The Good
News: Rebuilding Cornelius-Schefflin from the round-about north to Roy Road has gone
out to bid. (http://www.wc-roads.com/index.cfm?page=7&id=8)
Map: http://www.wc-roads.com/uploadedfiles/docresources/Map%20-%20Project%20Segments_001.pdf
When
completed (end of year), C-S will have 12-foot shoulders like Verboort between
the round-abouts at Martin Road
and C-S. This will make it possible to take C-S north to Wren Road, cross Susbauer,
and then drop down to Hornecker instead of making the left turn onto Long and
then taking the leg north on Susbauer. As you know, I’m a big fan of that left
onto Long. It would also make it safer when coming down Roy Road to C-S and
then making the left onto Wren, since there will be a wide shoulder to hang out
on until any traffic clears.
Rebuilding C-S
south of the round-about to the Council Creek bridge, and rebuilding the bridge
itself, apparently had been put off until 2009.
The Bad
News: Evers Road
from Greenville Road
to Osteman Road
was on the list for the gravel to chipseal upgrade program for this summer, but
is not on the current projects list (http://www.co.washington.or.us/deptmts/lut/oper/gravel.htm)
. The project list for this summer is pretty thin and probably reflects the
price of oil. Using Evers would allow us to drop down from just west of Roy directly to Porter and
on into Forest Grove without dealing with Verboort or C-S at all.
