The local Multiple Sclerosis Society chapter is looking for an event coordinator for the Bike MS event - somebody who is passionate about cycling and can do large event planning. (Target for next year is 750 riders and ~ $500k in fundraising.) If you are interested, or know someone who is, please read the job description.

Portland Velo Inclement Weather Policy
We here at PV have the motto "It's All About the Ride!", but sometimes Mother Nature decides that it would be best if we all stayed at home. In the Pacific Northwest we are no strangers to riding in bad weather, but heavy fog, high winds, slick road conditions and dare we say it, snow have sometimes hampered our ability to enjoy our famous Saturday Signature Rides. As the season of crazy weather approaches, we've come up with the following policy for our Saturday rides:
- Decisions to cancel the PV Saturday ride will be made by 8:30 AM the day of the ride based on the weather conditions at our start location in Hillsboro.
- Reasons for canceling the ride include, but are not limited to:
- Heavy Fog
- Freezing Fog
- Snow / Freezing Rain
- Extreme Wind Conditions
- Notice will be posted on the front page of the website and on the Portland Velo twitter feed at or shortly after 8:30 AM the day of the ride.
- A PV Operations member may or may not be at the start location to further notify those who missed the web posting. (Basically if someone isn't there to hand out the maps, the ride was probably canceled!)
There will be no official club ride on days we are forced to cancel.
Weekday ride cancellations are at the discretion of the weekday ride leaders. |

Tuesday / Thursday Ride Time Change
Effective immediately the Tuesday / Thursday ride will start at 9:30am vs 9:00am. This will be in effect until the time shift to 10am for all the PV rides in a few weeks. |

If you have an issue in which you are made to log in twice, please check to see if your bookmark to the site is http://portlandvelo.net vs http://www.portlandvelo.net. Adding the "www" to your bookmark or the URL you surf to should correct this issue. We are working with our hosting services to get an automatic redirect setup as well.
In addition, we've turned on a bit of new functionality with the forums to make it easier to browse on smart-phones. Check out the software "Tapatalk" which is available on multiple smart-phone platforms including iOS (iPhone) and Android based phones. |

We think we squashed the issue with membership renewals / activations. We'll be going through our backlog of payments and activating those accounts which got stuck during the migration and subsequent issue with the system. There will be a short downtime around noon PST today while we upgrade the custom code base we implemented.

8/31/2010 Web Update
We've spent most of the day working the issue with the membership creation / renewal process and have not yet solved the issue. A support ticket as been entered in with the membership software company. We are still receiving notifications of payment so please be assured that as soon as we solve the issue with the software we'll have your accounts setup. We apologize for the inconvenience.
