To all Portland Velo club and team members,
For those who haven't heard, fellow rider Mat Barton suffered major life changing injuries last week during the PIR short
track race. Our sponsor Madison's Grill has organized a fundraiser planned for Thursday, 6:00 pm on June 28th,
at 1109 SE Madison St. Here are more details about the event:
"At the gathering there will be a silent auction to raise funds for Mat with lots of great items. Also, you can purchase raffle
tickets for a Focus Chrono 1.0 TT bike worth $7,550. Tickets will be sold for $10 and the drawing will be held in
September (exact date and time TBD) at the Lumberyard Bike Park."

PVers have racked up 20+ podium finishes for the month of August, with 100+ race entries, a handful of state championships wins. I counted 21 PV shows at GPMC#1 last weekend alone. Great way to start off cross season. Jeff Pollock burned the courses at the Eugene Celebration winning the cat3 series. Race reports from EC highlighted great teamwork from Ron Babcock, Michael Girard, and Brion Barnett.
August was the month for state championships with Todd Rosier, Jeffery Pollock, and Jamie Cobb winning their categories at the OBRA Uphill TT champs. Malcolm Johnson won masters cat at the Track Championships. Larry Chow, Russ Speirn, and Victor Duong placed top 3 in their cats at OBRA XC Champs. Seasoned racer, Einar Traa took 3rd in the Masters Track Series.

A big shout out to Jeffrey Pollock for finishing 4th (and representing PV) at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic in Stage 2/3. Great job to everyone out there on the course in the month of June.
It has been fantastic to see a flood of new PV faces on the mountain bik e XC ci rcuit (including at least 4 new PV dirt ladies). If you haven't tried XC mtn bike racing, you are missing out on some epic courses, stunning scenery, and friendly race organizers.
June was also the month new gear was handed out. Big thank you for the guys at Castelli for making this happen and to our very own Sal Bondi at Swift Plus Creative Studio for cranking out another gorgeous design. PV's Paul-model-boy-Formiller is seen to the right sporting the latest garb, very hot. The caps have arrived so if you ordered one, please get in touch with Matt for pickup. In addition, we have plenty of extras that can be purchased for $12. We will be doing another gear order soon in time for the start of CX season, so stay tuned for ordering information.
Finally, new team gear is not without a team photo to show off the new kits. Thank you to all who attended, the team photo is a small gesture in appreciation to all our sponsors who have supported us through the years. What a handsome team!
